The Central FellsThe Far Central Fells was the third book published by Alfred Wainwright in 1958. The book covers the 27 fells from Keswick in the north to Great Langdale in the south, its eastern border being Thirlmere and the western Borrowdale. AW’s description – “The central part of mountainous country might generally be expected tp contain the highest peaks, but that is not so here, for the watershed is overtopped on all sides by summits of greater elevation, and only at one point, High Raise, is an altitude of 2500' reached".
